DBMS-pipe.unpack-message returns 65280 error

by Sandeep

Any idea on why dbms pipe unpack message returns 65280 value. Is this 65280 oracle error or user defined error.

Please suggest what are the different return values for unpack message.

That is most likely a user defined error as Oracle does not have an error at that number. Or it could be the output of the code. It's hard to tell without more information.

The following code:
result VARCHAR2(20);

This produces following o/p when run in (SQL Developer):
Error report -
ORA-06556: the pipe is empty, cannot fulfill the unpack_message request
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_PIPE", line 80
ORA-06512: at line 4
06556. 00000 - "the pipe is empty, cannot fulfill the unpack_message request"
*Cause: There are no more items in the pipe.
*Action: Check that the sender and receiver agree on the number and types
of items placed on the pipe.

While for more details on dbms_pipe head to: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_pipe.htm#CHDDFCFC

The error codes ORA-06555 to ORA-06560 relate to the dbms_pipe
