Multi-core vs. multi-processor
by: Anonymous

It is a very good question as to whether multi-core is better than multi-processor and not an easy one to answer.

It all depends on your application(s) and the workload of your system and the system architecture. A workload consisting of multiple high intensity tasks being performed in parallel would be more suited to a multi-processor system.

A multi-core processor on the other hand would boost the performance of multi-threaded workloads - those that have many small parts that can run in parallel.

This article may help to shed som elight on the matter. http://searchwindowsserver.techtarget.com/tip/Multi-core-systems-vs-multi-CPU-systems
